11/11/2022 0 Comments 2002 rm250 iboosterWhen hitting jumps it doesn't seem to launch the same as my KTM but then again the suspension had not been serviced for 10 years (which I later find out when my local bike mechanic services and re valves the suspension back to almost standard from the supercross setting it was on)Īnd finally the engine, I found it a lot different to my KTM 250, peaky power and not much bottom end and there seemed to be flat spots as i was climbing into the powerband (which was scary when I was coming up to a jump) I thought this was cause the bike was old and maybe the carb still needed proper cleaning (as I said I never really checked the bike over before racing it). So there I am on the start line and next minute I almost pull a holeshot on this 10 year old RM when I was getting bad starts on my ktm all day, then realise the brakes are no where near as good as my KTM but I throw it into the corner and it turns a lot better than my KTM. I also used my ktm 250sx to compare the two bikes. So the next day after buying the bike without even going over it properly or changing the quarter tank of old fuel I go to the track and enter in a club race. It had the same if not more power (hard to judge on a small drive way). So I brought a new standard RM250 spark plug and emptied the carb out after a while I got it started and took it up the drive way for a bit of a test, went through the gears and the engine run well i was surprised at how much power it had when compared to the 2011 KTM 250sx which I currently own. Upon buying the bike the seller said it had not been started in a while and was having problems starting it. So anyway I buy the bike as any of you would for that price (that's like the price of a mountain bike). The bike has a lot of trick stuff on it still: Bills works pipe and muffler, ported barrel, v force reed, rg3 tuned suspension for supercross, black frame, ama race numbers a few other small things. I go it off an older guy who had it sitting in a shed for years with out riding it, so in total bike had estimated 60-70 hours on it from new (a bit dirty but nothing seemed worn out). I recently brought an 2002 RM 250 which is Damon Huffman's ex practice bike for the 2002 AMA supercross for $1300.00.
